A little bit of a slow day. (Daily Update: 3/9/19)

I didn’t get a whole lot done today. I took some photos of the blanket which is surprisingly challenging for a few different reasons. It’s so big that getting a good shot of its shape (one of the most interesting parts of it) is hard. Also because we’re staying with my in laws right now I had to do a bit of location scouting to find a good spot to take the photos in. I settled on using Emilia’s Pack and Play in the living room and the photo turned out pretty well in the end, but I’m going to need to find a solution for the final product.

I got a lot of actual knitting done on my shirt. I’m almost done with the main body of it, but I had to switch up the colours I was planning to use. There was a speckled blue/pink colour in the middle of the gradient that turned out way more blue than I was expecting, so I changed to a much darker skein for the colour after. We’ll see how it looks when it comes off the needles.

One of the things I’m trying to get into more is designing patterns that are paid for upfront - ie for magazines or collections. It’s a little tough because I don’t actually read a lot of magazines myself so I’m not sure what the good ones are, but I’m doing as much research as I can. So far I’ve done a quick Google search which hasn’t yielded much info, but I also have a pretty solid network on Instagram and they post calls for submissions every so often. Today I signed up to the mailing list to get the call for submissions from Making Magazine. The style of what they’re looking for this round is a bit different to what I generally design to but I’ll have a think to see if there’s something I want to submit to them.
